Photography contract templatefor wedding photographers.

For wedding photographers booked by couples in the UK.

A wedding photography contract should set coverage hours, how many edited images the couple get and when, who owns the copyright, how guests and children in photos are handled, the deposit and what happens if you are ill. This photography contract template covers all of it, with a photo consent form.

Sample photo consent form clause: guests and children

Wedding pictures will include guests, family and, often, children. We try to limit published images to ones where the Couple appear, and we avoid close-up identifiable images of children and anyone who has asked not to appear.

Person or group to leave out of any published imagesReason (optional) [Name / description][Reason] [Name / description][Reason] [Name / description][Reason]

The Couple confirm they will let guests know there will be a photographer or videographer, and will tell the Supplier on the day if anyone asks not to be photographed. For children under 18, consent to publish needs to come from a parent or guardian. The Couple do not give it on behalf of other people's children, and the Supplier will not publish identifiable images of other people's children without that parent's consent.

Wedding Photographer contract questions.

What should a wedding photography contract include?

Coverage hours, the number of edited images and how and when they are delivered, the fee and deposit, travel and meals, copyright and the couple's licence, consent for portfolio use, a substitute photographer if you are ill, and cancellation terms.

Who owns the copyright in wedding photos?

Under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 the photographer usually owns the copyright, even when the couple commissioned and paid for the photos. The booking agreement keeps copyright with you and gives the couple a personal licence.

Do I need a photo consent form?

If you want to use images in your portfolio, on social media or for awards, get the couple's written consent for each use. The Photo and Video Usage Consent form in the pack does this, with an opt-out for guests and children.
